Chapter 18 us up:
The weird psychic guy had been unsettling, but it was easy enough to dismiss as random weirdness. Buck’s info, on the other hand, was a time-release smoke bomb, creating ongoing confusion and fear that refused to clear. I kept thinking about it as I went about my manager duties, but no matter which angle I came in at it, my mind couldn’t see through to what was really going on. I’d have to ask Raphael directly, but I couldn’t figure that one out either. What was the best tack to take? Catching him off guard seemed a good way to go, but not if I was a bitch about it. Maybe keep it simple, like: hey, is there a small malfunction occurring in your moral compass? Maybe if I put it as a joke, it wouldn’t be such a big deal. But what troubled me the most was how I kept trying to find a way to make light of something that wasn’t light at all.
