Yesterday, I drove down to Myrtle Beach for the funeral of a fellow psychic friend of mine's husband. I'd only met him once, and she'd only talked about him somewhat generally, about what a good friend he was to her. Sometimes she'd ask me to look at the various health issues he was dealing with, see what info I could offer. At the funeral I was surprised to learn he'd been a pitcher for the Brooklyn Dodgers, what a challenging life he'd had, the different things he'd said to people in the days leading up to his heart attack, how he was finally feeling better, looking forward to working in his garden this summer.
Afterward, there was a luncheon, and as my friend walked around to talk to the different folks who'd travelled to pay their respects, I hung out with the only other person from Wilmington who was there, a fellow psychic I hadn't seen in a while. As we talked about the different factual things going on in our world, we interjected something I realized on the drive back is both common and normal among psychics, and happens every time we get together.
(he) so you're still working at Hiveworld?
(me) yes, it's shamanic work but without the paraphernalia, just me, the person, and what they're struggling under.
(he) i see a big shift coming for you in October, completely different than what you're doing now. not sure if you'll be moving locations, but what you're actually doing is totally different.
(me) that sounds about right. i'm feeling a change coming. how about you?
(he) I'm moving to Hilton Head in a couple of weeks. the Wilmington energy just doesn't feel right anymore. have you felt the shift?
(he) not sure what i'm going to be doing down there other than sessions. i have 57 books i've got outlines for. i need to get to writing them, don't you think???
(me) since we've been sitting here, i keep seeing an image of you. your hair is longer, and brushed straight back. you're wearing an expensive suit with a glossy lavender tie. you're standing at a podium, giving a talk, and it's clear that you do this a lot. you're going to be doing a lot of speaking. it's popped up at least a half dozen times since we've been sitting here.
(he) you're the fourth person to tell me that. i can feel it too. i'm going to go get some fruit, would you like some?
(me) no thanks. i need to head out. you know how it is with crowds.
When a non-psychic person tries to do it, they ask something like: "so do you see anything?" and then stare at you, waiting for an answer in the middle of the party or wake or grocery store. And it's no different than any other profession that gets constantly pumped for info out of context, like a lawyer or doctor, and is met with irritation, depending on the mood, masked or unmasked. But between fellow psychics, it's offered up as both a normal flow of conversation, and a kind of sign of respect.
